World Beard Champion beard hiested and on the lamb!

The radio station is in a panic! The beard is gone and they cannot figure out why someone would take it. I started laughing and it helped them feel better as I put it, “It adds mystique to the legend of the braided beard”. They are still looking at this time.  If at anytime you see the World Champion Beard do not approach it directly. If found simply call KWHL as soon as possible.

WBMC 2009 after the dust cleared

Here's an interesting perspective from the 2009 WBMC. What is sad is everyone really wants the same thing, but to a select some, they would have it be left up to people who may or may not attend any future championships, but uses the collective cloak to portray it as we. This is where the Southcentral Alaska Beard and Moustache Club decided it was time to part ways. In our case it was a group decision and its what makes us a stronger club. Here's the facts to do it right, you need one of two things - An organization of dedicated people-i.e a "Club" or someone with allot of cash they want to throw away. It can also be done for several purposes charity or profit and neither are a bad way to go either. We chose charity.

World Beard and Moustache 2009 Reflection

It is final. Full Beard Freestyle is the standard bearer
over all facial hair of the WBMC 2009!

Some have tried to diminish this category's luster by saying
we should celebrate the painter and not the canvas.
One would be valid in countering that very weak
argument with, "Don't we also celebrate the architect
as well as the builder of a great building?"

I designed my beard style and spent hours planning its'
construction. If you consider the creativity necessary
to break into the top three, let alone win this category,
you cannot deny the artistry involved. It was a great
collaborative effort, more than anyone will know. As the
architect, I designed a detailed blue print for the incredible
skill of my stylist to bring to life. Yes, we do celebrate
the artist, as well as their works...and artistry is what it
takes to design and build a great freestyle beard and moustache.

To talk down the category is an insult to fellow competitors who
have paved the way in this competition. I greatly respect all
my competitors, even those who may denigrate other categories than
the one in which they participate. Everyone is entitled to their
opinion. This, however, is a flawed point of view and only diminishes
the competition as a whole.

It is the freestyle category that draws people to the event!

Since this has been brought up in recent interviews, I am compelled
to rebut those statements. I feel it is important to put my credentials
up for review, should anyone doubt my foundation to speak on what I
see as counterproductive slams at other categories.

WBMC 2009 - 1st place Full Beard Freestyle- World Champion
WBMC 2007 - 3rd place Full Beard with Styled Moustache

Alaska State Beard Championships
2009 - 1st place Ptarmigan Category (our version of freestyle)
2008 - 1st place Brown Bear Category (brown beards)
2007 - Overall State Champion, aka Mr. Fur Face
2007 - 1st place Brown Bear Category
2006 - Overall State Champion, aka Mr. Fur Face
2006 - 1st place Brown Bear Category
2004 - Overall State Champion, aka Mr. Fur Face
2004 - 1st place Brown Bear Category
2003 - 1st place Brown Bear Category
2001 - 1st Place Brown Bear Category
2000 - Overall State Champion, aka Mr. Fur Face
2000 - 1st place Brown Bear Category
I think that says it all.

Let it not be lost that I have great admiration for
all my fellow competitors and its okay to disagree.

Respectfully,

David Traver -Over All Beard and Moustache Champion of the World when it comes to whiskers -There is no other!
